Cornwall Council is producing a Minerals Development Framework and a Waste Development Framework which will provide policies and proposals for minerals extraction and waste management within the County.
Several documents will make up the Minerals and Waste Development Frameworks;

- Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents including;
- Core Strategy,
- Site Specific Allocations,
- Supplementary Planning Documents including 'The design, operation and reclamation of mineral sites in Cornwall',
- Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) - this is produced each year and sets out information to monitor the implementation of minerals and waste policy within the County.
Extant Planning Policy
The Minerals and Waste Local Plans provide the existing planning policy against which planning applications for minerals or waste related development will be assessed.
The Minerals Local Plan can be viewed at www.cornwall.gov.uk. The Minerals Local Plan is supported by the St Austell China Clay Tipping and Restoration Strategy a Supplementary Planning Guidance document which is available from the Natural Resources team planning.county@cornwall.gov.uk. This Strategy aims to enable the progressive tipping and restoration of china clay waste, within an evolving landscape of sustainable land uses reflecting the local character of an upland moor with peripheral diversity.
The Waste Local Plan can be viewed at www.cornwall.gov.uk
